Torrance Police Department Opens A New Lab

The Torrance Police department has opened a new crime lab to work on fingerprints, DNA and other physical evidence. The department has an emphasis on Burglary cases and theft cases within the city. This scientific laboratory in the Police Department’s basement employs six civilian forensic identification specialists and a supervisor who will process blood and fingerprint evidence for everything from murders to car burglaries.

The six forensic technicians are all women dubbed the “Fabulous Forensic Females,” will respond to all types of crime scenes, including car break-ins, which some police departments have changed to phone reports because of budget cutbacks.
