The recent changes in the law of marijuana possession

Recently, the California legislature decriminalized simple possession of marijuana under an ounce.  Does this mean everyone will be carrying marijuana and smoking it in the streets?  Not likely.  It is time we as a society come to the realization that we should stop making criminals out of people just for what they choose to put in their bodies.  We as a culture should focus on criminalizing the conduct of people that may be detrimental to society, is the ingestion of a weed criminal conduct?  No doubt if the individual ingests and drives this endangers the community and this should be criminal but the simple use of a substance seems to be a personal choice and should not inject the person into the criminal justice system.  I think the lawmakers got it right this time.
